Our Uptown location (Toast 125) was founded in 1999 when the area wasn’t nearly as safe as it is today. A brainchild of Larry Good, (Nacho Mama’s Burritos, The Heights, Carne and Toast 105), built by Misha Kliot, (Carne and Toast 105), and with the stove manned by the legendary Big Jim Johnston, (whereabouts unknown), it quickly became and institution. Big Jim trained Pasquale, German, Jose, and Simon- who 12 years later are still with us and still pumping out the comida as fast and as well as is humanly possible. Darin, our G.M. has fine tuned this Toast and has now turned his gaze south for more of the same. Located near such academic environments as Columbia University, and the Manhattan School of Music, as well as the historic Riverside Church and Ulysses S. Grant’s tomb, Toast is a great place weather you are sightseeing, studying, visiting, or living in the neighborhood.
